GKR Goes Green in ‘The Meadows’
15 Jul

Maintenance service providers, GKR Building Maintenance Co. Ltd (GKR) has successfully completed the final stage of environmental improvements to people’s homes in areas of Brackla, Bridgend. The project involved adding boundaries and fencing to the estate and individual properties, within the WWHA residential area, as part of the £113,000 boundary wall scheme.

Walesand West residents have expressed concerns that open-plan gardens can often contribute to the problems of anti-social behaviour. As part of a continued policy to improve the environment and in consultation with residents, the decision was taken to provide residents with clearly defined garden areas. This has the benefit of clearly defining which areas are not communal and that are private to residents.

GKR has a planned partnering agreement with WWHA which entails completing 500 kitchen renewals acrossSouth Wales. As a result of this programme, the Caerphilly-based Maintenance Company has also finished further work at The Meadows, including improving the kitchen facilities of 135 properties. The improvements ensure kitchens are up-to-date and, most importantly, environmentally friendly. The planned kitchen upgrade programme has been running over the past 12 months, for properties in Heol Y Rhos, Heol Bryn Glas, Cloy Y Waun, Clos Y Wern and Dan Y Coed Rise.

Residents of The Meadows will undoubtedly benefit from the improvements, and GKR hopes that the changes they have made will have a significant impact on the environment. Gordon Taylor, resident of The Meadows Brackla and former WWHA board member, states, ‘GKR has done a great job in improving the residential are. We can enjoy peace and quiet in our gardens and not have to worry about unwelcome invasion and noise. He continues, “Myself and other residents will also greatly benefit from the kitchen upgrade programme that GKR has completed at The Meadows. This is what the Brackla Residents Association requested - the area feels totally renewed. “

Jayne Rowland Evans of GKR concludes: “It was imperative to complete the essential works quickly and efficiently to ensure as little disruption as possible. Residents now feel secure in their own private areas. The kitchen upgrades were carried out with all environmental aspects covered and we are confident that the residents are happy with the work that GKR has carried out.”
