Community Benefits by Local £ Spend

GKR Maintenance are based in South Wales and have a strong commitment to providing business to our local supply chain.
From early on our ethos has been to provide a service with locally, directly-employed, labour wherever possible. With a continuous programme of training and development a diverse range of tradesmen and women has been fostered, all of whom we are extremely proud.
In addition we have developed a strong and stable supply chain with almost 90% of our expenditure being placed for services, goods and overheads within Wales. As a SME ourselves, we understand the importance of providing opportunities to those seeking to grow. In 2011 we calculated that over 75% of this expenditure was placed with other Welsh-based SMEs, helping them to grow in line with GKR.
We know from the 2010 Welsh Government report that every £1 spent on construction in Wales typically generates £1.76 in additional economic activity in Wales. We were pleased but not surprised to find that we return £1.89 for every £1 we spend using the Value Wales Sustainable Benefits Measurement Tool.
