The Swans U12 season ends on a high
10 Jun

Caldicot ended a fantastic season at the NHSOB Tournament on a high by not only winning all their games, but every bit as importantly, playing some of their best rugby and most complete  EVER. What better way for the boys to thank the sterling and unrelenting efforts of Head Coach Henry, Backs Maestro Bob, Utility Coach Richard and latterly Rob and Mike than playing rugby like they did.  I’m sure they’d also like to thank ‘Mission Control’ Suzanne for co-ordinating the wider aspects of Team Caldicot U12’s campaign.

The last game of the season would be against the hosts NHSOB and the stage was set for a winner takes it all ‘final’.  NHSOB were boosted by some of their ‘football boys’ making a cameo appearance and added some fresh legs as the hosts now had to face games on the bounce.  Gabe was the first to score in the game as he took a clearance kick and evaded the defence.  On the other wing, Harvey benefited from a Matt line- break to gallop down the outside and  touchdown as he showed too much pace for the hosts.  Sam further settled coaches and parents nerves as he was given the gift of the day in the form of a fluffed clearance kick straight into his waiting arms from 2 yards.  Sadly, what could have been the try of the season, as Leighton deftly took Sam’s league-style cross-field kick was rightly adjudged to be off-side by the ref.  Shame!

NHSOB had the last word as they got one back at the death as one of their players was chopped down but given the benefit of the whistle that he was not held and got up to score.  FT 25-5.

The Swans had a great tournament and season and enjoyed every minute of it!  Bring on the Under 13s!
